History

Maize Valley Farm, located on Byers Ave. in Hartville, Ohio, started in the 1960's by Kay and Donna Vaughan. Kay and Donna both quit teaching in the 1970's to farm full time. In 1998, Maize Valley Farm opened the original market one half mile west of the currently location. In November of 2000, Kay and Donna, Bill and Michelle, and Todd decided it was time to expand and they purchased a 140 year old barn. The barn was fully refurbished. The remodeled barn is complete with the original hand hewn beams and cut stone wall.

On June 30, 2001, the new and expanded Maize Valley Farm Market opened for business. We added a bakery that produces a full line of baked pies, breads, and cookies. We also added a deli that boasts a full line of Amish Country meats and cheeses. The market carries all of our own, homegrown produce as well as some very unique and delicious specialty food items.

2005 found us undertaking yet another new part of our journey. On March 17th we opened Maize Valley Winery. We have grapes under production as well as many fruit crops. We produce these wines right on site and take great care in producing the best quality and balanced flavors found in a bottle.

History is always in the Making and we will be adding new things and other exciting products and experiences as time and sanity allows.
