Wine Tasting Parties & Tours

One of the big advantages of visiting an Ohio winery is you can taste or try out a wine before you buy it.

You may taste any of the wines that we currently offer at Maize Valley Monday - Saturday during our normal hours.  (We do not have a license for Sunday wine sales or tastings.)  The law requires in Ohio that we charge for our samples - most of our samples are $0.25 each, Raspberry and Port are $1.00 each.

If you are planning either a Friday or Saturday evening visit, we suggest that you arrive a little earlier in the evening (6:00) as we can get quite busy from 6:30-8:30 and it may be difficult for us to devote the time we'd like to helping you find that perfect wine.

Often time’s people make fun of the whole wine tasting thing with all the swirling and sniffing but there is something to it. By moving the wine around rapidly in the glass you release odor and flavor molecules into the air. A great deal of our taste sensation is derived from our sense of smell and this action aids in getting the full profile of the wine.

In most casual wine tasting parties people swallow the wine. During professional tastings however many people prefer to spit it into a "dump bucket" as they may have many wines to taste and let’s just say their judgment can become clouded after a bit.

If you get a sample and you take a taste and don't like it at all do not be afraid to dump it out and try another one.
